Our Trip to the Romney Marsh Visitor Centre.
On Monday 2nd of March classes 9,10 and 12 went to the visitor centre. After everyone had arrived at school we walked up to Romney Sands and got on a train which was called Greatstone Express. The train ride was fun and there were some tunnels - when we went through them everything went really dark!
When we got to our destination we all got off the train and went to see Ali Short. Ali organized a competition that we all entered. It involved creating a model with something on it that moved using solar power. She gave out some awards and we found out that Greatstone came 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The group in first place got a rechargeable torch each and a little toy trophy.
At first, class 10 went for a walk in the fields around the lake, where we saw some rabbits and their burrows. We walked around admiring the nature. When we got to the end of the track we went inside the visitor centre. We looked at our models, which were on display, then we played on some of the games and other activities. In one section there was a bike with 6 light bulbs next to it. The aim was to get on the bike and pedal fast enough to create the energy needed to power the lights. It was great fun.
After that we went for another walk outside, where we spotted some newts and birds. Finally we got back on the train, returned to the holiday camp and then walked back to school.
We all enjoyed our morning out.
