On Monday 28th November Classes 11 & 12 travelled back in time to ancient Athens, when they took part in a day's activities run by the Living History Workshops.
The children had great fun exploring the agora (market place), tasting different foods and viewing a range of stalls, as well as meeting traders and philosophers. Later in the day they learned about the Elgin Marbles and had the opportunity to create their own pieces of a Greek frieze. After lunch they became archaeologists, sifting through sand to find clues to the past. Finally, they worked in teams to create phalanxes (rectangular military formations) followed by a quick trip to the wrestling ring at the Olympics.
A wonderful whistlestop tour of an ancient civilisation - all in our own hall.
