On Friday 17th July Greatstone School said goodbye to Mr. Mortimer, Mrs. Geddes, Mr. Gooch and Mr. Birch.
The photographs below were taken during a special assembly for Mr. Mortimer, in which the children performed a variety of sketches, songs and poems, before presenting him with cards and gifts from themselves, the staff, the parents and the governors.
Also on this page is a message from Mrs. Geddes, which can be found below the photo gallery.

To Everyone at Greatstone School,
I feel that I must be one of the luckiest people ever. I would like to thank all the staff, children and parents, (past and present), for all the kindness and generosity shown to me, and for making my last week at Greatstone so special. I can not express how overwhelmed I was and how much I appreciated everything.
Greatstone School has been such a huge, happy part of my life. When I was a pupil at Southlands School I did voluntary work for two afternoons a week at Greatstone, (there were only 4 classes then!). I already wanted to be a teacher but working at Greatstone made me realise just how much. When I left university I was lucky enough to be asked to take a reception class for a term. When a vacancy occurred in the following September for a year 3 class ,(including a 7 year old Mr Sharp!), I had no hesitation in accepting and, except for a 5 year break when I worked part time whilst bringing up our own 3 children, I have been here ever since! I was lucky enough to meet and marry my husband here. We have now worked together for 28 years and I will really miss him next year. I have enjoyed every day working with such lovely children and supportive parents. The staff are friends not colleagues-Greatstone School is more like a family than a school. I am so grateful to have been a part of such a special place. I would like to say a special thank you to Mr Mortimer and Mrs Wood who have always been 100% supportive and caring and who make Greatstone School such a fantastic school for everyone.
I am now lucky enough to have been given the opportunity to help care for our lovely grandson, Owen, when his Mum goes to back to work. I know I will really enjoy this!
I am sure you can now see why I feel like the luckiest person in the world! I will miss everyone very much and would like to thank you all for everything. Whenever I think of Greatstone School it will always make me smile!
