Maths Week

Special Events

Monday 7th November saw the start of 'Maths Week'. For five days the whole school participated in a range of exciting activities devoted entirely to Maths - all day, every day!

As well as giving their brains a good workout with the Happy Puzzle Company's excellent (and challenging) workshops, the children took part in many other practical activities, which included: baking, designing and making games, following Maths trails and creating 3D shapes.

Parents were able to join in the fun by attending a 'Coffee and Calculations' workshop and having a wander round the different classes to see what was going on.

The end of the week saw the children making lines of 1p and 2p coins on the playground. The winning line (from Class 12) measured an incredible 67 metres!

In the afternoon on Friday a special assembly was held so that the winners of the 'Who can find the heaviest potato?' and 'How many sweets in the jar?' competitions could be announced.

What a brilliant week!

"I think Maths week was epic. My favourite bit was doing the fun competitions." Ryan.

"Maths Week was cool. My favourite bit was making and eating the cakes."
Nicole.

"I think Maths Week was the most fun so far this year. My favourite bit was when we lined up the coins on the playground outside."
Brook.

Some comments from the parents who participated...

"It was great to be able to see the children 'at work' and to be able to join in."

" I felt extremely privileged to be allowed to go into the classrooms across the age ranges and see the work in progress. The children were beautifully behaved, friendly, sociable and keen to explain their work."

"Maths Week has been fun for everyone. Thank you!"
